A New School Year Means a New School Council EFTSC Meeting: Monday October 5th @7pm in the Library. École Forest Trail has a large and diverse student population. Thank you and congratulations to all of the parents who will serve as representatives of our diverse community on this year's School Council. At the first official meeting of our new council on October 5th, school council positions were determined. In accordance with our Constitution, EFTSC have the following positions of defined responsibility: • Two (2) co-chairs. A chair or co-chair must be a parent/guardian member of ÉFTSC, and shall be elected by the voting members of ÉFTSC; • Secretary; • Treasurer; • Members At Large At the October 5th meeting, each candidate for the officer positions outlined above were nominated and seconded at the meeting before proceeding to a vote. The election of position can be by secret ballot or by a show of hands of EFTSC members (at the discretion of the ÉFTSC members present). Each Council member will be expected to adhere to the member responsibilities outlined in our École Forest Trail School Council Constitution (found in the “About Council” section of this website). Briefly, all EFTSC members are accountable to the parents/guardians they represent and must: • Maintain a school-wide perspective on issues • Regularly attend ÉFTSC meetings (maximum of 3 absences) – attendance is important as Council makes decisions relating to EFTSC business at every meeting. Member’s presence is important to ensure these decisions are made in a timely fashion. All meetings require 2/3 of all members present for quorum. • Be willing to participate in information and training programs • Act as a link between the ÉFTSC and the community • Encourage the participation of all parents/guardians within the school community • Participate on sub-committees and assist with tasks of the ÉFTSC (5-10 hours per month depending on role) Please visit this site for a comprehensive of list council members, positions and contact information following our October 5th meeting.
