Fête d'Hiver / Carnaval at ÉFT
February 15th & 16th, 2012
On February 15th and 16th, École Forest Trail is hosting our annual “Winter Carnaval” modeled after the Quebec Winter Carnival celebrating French culture. The Quebec Carnival is the largest winter carnival in the world - a northern version of the Mardi Gras Carnival in Louisiana.
All students are actively involved in the celebration. There are grade specific crafts and activities assigned to educate our students on the many wonders of the festival.
Grade 1 - Making their own Carnaval Sash
Grade 2 - Creating a Bonhomme Puppet
Grade 3 - Crafting a Red PomPom to be worn on their Toque!
Grade 4 - Designing and creating a parade float
Grade 5 - Designing and building an Ice Castle (out of sugar cubes!)
Grade 6 - Preparing a skit depicting the Great Canoe Race held annually in Quebec City. They'll present their skit to the primary students.
Grade 7 - Running the outdoor games and serving pancakes
Grade 8 - Playing the roles of Jesters and Bonhomme Bodyguards! Will also serve pancakes.
